Tony Sherr and Lisa Ondich to Represent Tea Company in Wrongful Death Suit

Sherr Law Group’s Tony Sherr and Lisa Ondich are representing the defendant, SoCal Herbal Remedies of Big Bear City, Calif., is a wrongful death lawsuit. The parents of a 25-year-old West Chester man who died in a car crash after drinking SoCal Herbal Remedies’ tea are suing the company, claiming kratom, an ingredient in the tea, caused his death. Kratom is a substance extracted from a Southeast Asian tree; many users of the substance appreciate its pain-relieving properties and the energy boost it provides. However, some argue the substance can be dangerous if used improperly.

The plaintiffs claim SoCal Herbal Remedies is responsible for their son’s death because the company didn’t provide adequate dosage information or warnings on its kratom products, a sentiment the company does not share. “SoCal Herbal Remedies firmly believes it bears no liability for the unfortunate of death of Mr. Sturgis,” said Tony. This lawsuit is the first wrongful death case in the state of Pennsylvania to be filed in regard to kratom usage.

A local Philadelphia newspaper, The Inquirer, covered the story in a recent article. For more information on this case, you can read its article here.
