Anthony Sherr Named Worcester Township Planning Commission Chairman

Sherr Law Group’s Anthony Sherr is a Pennsylvania resident who has been practicing law in the state for decades. As a Norristown, Pennsylvania attorney, Tony closely interacts with Norristown residents daily in a professional setting. Taking an active role in the Norristown community and the surrounding area is important to Tony; he sets aside a portion of his free time to serving several local organizations.

Tony was recently elected by his peers as Chairman of the Worcester County Planning Commission, a four-year role. Previously, he served as Vice Chairman. His experience in municipal law and commitment to the community make this volunteer role perfect for Tony. He sat down with us to answer some questions about his new position.

Q: When does your term as Chairman begin?

A: It began on January 24th, at our reorganization meeting.

Q: How do you feel about being unanimously voted into the position?

A: I was gratified that my fellow members had the confidence in me to lead them. We have an important mission, and all the Committee members share a common goal of representing the interests of Worcester Township residents.

Q: What is the mission of the Worcester Township Planning Commission?

A: Among other things, the planning commission assists our elected Board of Supervisors in carrying out the responsibility to plan and guide the growth of municipal services and public improvements, and to ensure that development occurs in an orderly, rational, and reasonable manner.

Q: How does the Planning Commission work with the Department Staff to produce results? 

A: We are assisted by the Township Zoning Officer and the Township Engineer.

Q: What are your top priorities as Chair of the Planning Commission?

A: My primary objective is to comprehensively update the Township Zoning and Land Use Ordinances to reflect the current desires of the residents of the township. I will also strive to maintain effective control over current and future development for the good of the residents of Worcester Township.  

Q: Though you are a resident of Worcester Township, you practice law in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Do you have any thoughts on the revitalization of Norristown? 

A: Things seem to be progressing. The County’s revitalization of the courthouse area has begun with a new exterior being applied to One Montgomery Plaza. In addition, construction on residential units continues in the surrounding area.
