Julie Owsik Ackerman
Attorney at Sherr Law Group
Julie Owsik Ackerman solves complex problems and creates tangible solutions for clients. She brings to each matter her varied litigation experience and deep interest in the employer-employee relationship.
Julie’s journey into law began in working with immigrant communities, first assisting newly arrived refugees as a social worker before transitioning into legal work. As an Accredited Representative at Catholic Social Services, she used her analytical and advocacy skills to help individuals and families navigate asylum applications, naturalization, and family-based immigration petitions.
Wanting to make a greater impact, Julie pursued a law degree from the James E. Beasley School of Law at Temple University, gaining hands-on experience through internships with the Philadelphia Defenders Association and the U.S. Immigration Court in Philadelphia. After law school, she joined the employment group at Blank Rome, where she focused primarily on immigration-related matters, helping businesses comply with employment regulations and navigate complex immigration issues. More recently, Julie clerked for the Honorable Diana L. Anhalt in the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania, conducting legal research and drafting written opinions for homicide and major jury trial appeals.
At Sherr Law Group, Julie is eager to expand her litigation skills across a diverse range of cases, including employment disputes and complex civil litigation. She values the collaborative environment of the firm and enjoys the variety of legal challenges she encounters daily. Julie approaches client advocacy with a strong focus on connection and communication, working to understand each client’s unique needs.
Outside of work, you can often find Julie with her husband, two sons, and pug in Ocean City, New Jersey or on the shores of Lake Ontario. A third-generation Philly sports fan, she loves her Eagles and Phillies. Still and always, Julie pursues her passion for writing, currently drafting her second novel and adding to her collection of personal essays.
