Remembering Ronald Sherr

The Sherr Law Group is deeply saddened to announce that Ronald Sherr, founder of the Sherr Law Group, passed away on Sunday, December 18th. Ronald was a pillar in the Pennsylvania law community, a dedicated mentor and friend to many, and a beloved father and family member.

Ron’s career in law began quickly after graduating from Temple Law School in 1956 at the age of 28. After relocating his practice to Norristown, PA in Montgomery County, Ron earned a reputation both as a gifted litigator and as a trustworthy and honorable individual. He regularly shared meals in the Montgomery County Bar Association Dining Room with fellow attorneys, judges, and colleagues, building relationships that lasted his entire lifetime and earned him a treasured reputation in the legal community.

For more than 60 years, Ron continued his work in the Norristown, PA area, continuing to offer mediation and arbitration services and continuing his lifelong practice of building and maintaining relationships within the industry. In addition to settling over 3,000 matters and litigating over 1,000 additional cases, Ron served as a Judge Pro Tem in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Temple University School of Law, and as a mediator in the United Stated District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Ron received countless honors, both regionally and nationally, throughout his esteemed career. Equally important to him were the friendships and working relationships he built with his clients, colleagues, opponents, competitors, and judges. These connections serve as a testament to Ron’s integrity, ethics, fairness, and commitment to those around him.

We’re thankful that a writer recently had the opportunity to interview Ron on his life and legacy in law, which you can read here.

Ron will be deeply missed by his son — Managing Partner of Sherr Law Group Anthony R. Sherr — his surviving family, the Sherr Law Group team past and present, and the entire legal communities of Norristown, Montgomery County, and Pennsylvania.

Ronald Sherr brought 60 years of leadership and experience to Sherr Law Group.  Mr. Sherr was regularly selected as one of the best lawyers in Pennsylvania by U.S. News and World Report in the field of arbitration and mediation, product liability litigation and personal injury litigation since 2005. Mr. Sherr was a lecturer in various areas of litigation for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, specialized in arbitration and mediation since 1993, and settled over 3,000 cases. He specialized in construction, malpractice, and insurance litigation, and frequently served as an expert witness in these areas. He litigated over 1,000 cases in the State and Federal Courts of Pennsylvania as well as other jurisdictions of the United States. He served on many boards for profit and non-profit organizations as well as charitable institutions. He also presided over civil jury and non-jury cases as a Judge Pro Tem of Philadelphia County.

Mr. Sherr was a Fellow in the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers. He served as Adjunct Professor of Law in the LLM Advocacy Program at Temple University School of Law. In addition, he was a Judge Pro Tem in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, and was a Discovery Master in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas, where he began the current discovery motion practice. He was also a mediator in the United Stated District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and participated as a mediator or a neutral arbitrator in many matters. Mr. Sherr was awarded Martindale Hubbell’s highest AV Preeminent peer review rating and had been selected as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer for eleven consecutive years, from 2006 – 2016.

Mr. Sherr was a member of the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Montgomery County Bar Association and the Philadelphia Bar Association.

Mr. Sherr graduated from Temple Law School, where he received his LLB in 1956. He was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1957.
